Coding Experience

Coding Experience
Through timebanking we learned that youth are needed and can participate in giving and receiving help and service to each other and their community. Also, Timebanking brought opportunities to learn new things and meet new people.
One of the most meaningful experiences in my timebanking journey has been learning and practicing coding. At first, the idea of coding felt intimidating. We used to imagine it as something complicated, reserved only for experts with expensive computers and years of training. But through Kisubi Youth Time Initiative, members from Bright Parents were introduced to coding in a simple and practical way that changed the perspective completely.
They began with block coding, arranging commands like puzzles that made characters move, lights blink, or simple games come to life. Each successful attempt gave us a sense of pride and curiosity to try more. The beauty of coding, we discovered, is that it is not just about writing instructions for a machine — it is about problem-solving, logic, and creativity. It teaches you to think differently, to break down challenges into smaller steps, and to never give up when something doesn’t work the first time.
What made this journey even more special was the teamwork involved. During sessions, members helped one another, shared tips, and laughed through mistakes. Through coding, we have gained not only a skill but also confidence. We now see technology as an opportunity for creation and innovation. Most importantly, we believe that with coding, youth can build solutionsthat truly shape the future.
