Aroha Gardens is a community garden located in Whangarei, New Zealand. Whangarei is about two hours north of Auckland. It is a beautiful town on the east coast.

Over the past few years our local Timebank organisation has reactivated and grown. I have been a member of Timebanking for years. I was thrilled to see things ramping up! I met the new local coordinator, Janey, and attended meetings and workshops.

About a year ago, a friend and I took on developing and managing a garden that is attached to a community centre near us. I mentioned this to Janey and she said they had a grant for food security! This was just what we needed! Janey supported us through the process and we were granted around $1,000 to purchase tools and supplies for the garden! We were thrilled!!

Aroha Gardens is now an organisational member of Timebanking and we are connecting with more and more people in our community. This will only grow and grow!
